Blogs are a very effective social media tool to share information. At the end of 2011
there were 39 million blogs on Tumblr and 70 million on WordPress. Blogs like Blogger
are websites that contain posts that are usually updated on a daily or weekly
basis. The posts usually have text,
images, graphics and links to websites. Many people use Blogs to provide their
followers with current information on trending issues. Blogs are typically informal and has
characteristics of an online journal. Most
blogs are designed for their readers to leave comments and have online conversations
that will encourage their followers to engage in ongoing dialogue.
TWITTER
Twitter is an effective
social media tool with approximately 177 million tweets sent every day by its subscribers. As many as 20.6 million people access their Twitter accounts a least once a month. This
social media tool allows its followers to share information, respond to and ask
questions to anyone who has a Twitter account. Followers use computers, mobile devices or tablets to send short messages called
‘tweets”. Tweets contain a maximum of 140 characters and subscribers can choose who they follow
and who can send them tweets.

Delicious is a
social media tool designed to store, organize and share links to websites on
specific topics. Tags or key words are
used to organize and share items. This is a great way for subscribers to share information with their clients,
friends or colleagues and receive up-to-date information on issues that are relevant to their followers.
