Aspirin May Cut the Risk of Pancreatic Cancer

I chose an article from The New York Times that was written by Nicholas  Bakalar.  This article followed a study about the possibility of low doses of aspirin lower the risk of pancreatic cancer.   This article stated that the National Cancer Institute estimates  there will be about 46,000 diagnoses of Pancreatic cancer with a 93 percent mortality rate every year and more than 40,000 deaths,
This study was published online in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, after a five year study.  The researchers matched aspirin use in 362 pancreatic cancer patients with 690 arbitrarily selected controls. The participants were asked about past and present regular use of aspirin, defined as at least once a week for three months.

The potential impact of unrestricted web publishing through mass media as related to pancreatic cancer could be devastating.  This is a sensitive subject and if used incorrectly it could cause some major health issues.
The use of aspirin has been linked to several side effects such as: liver failure, kidney failure, ulcers, loss of hearing and hemorrhagic stroke.  So it is pertinent that the use of aspirin is done conducted under a doctor’s supervision.
